Live-Fire Charcoal Grill on Decebal, in the Heart of Botanica

If you're in Chisinau and looking for proper grilled meat over real fire, Loft Pub & Kitchen is an easy find on Bd. Decebal in the Botanica district. Everything from our charcoal grill is cooked over live flame and glowing embers, never gas or a hotplate, so you get that genuine smoky char in every bite. It's a relaxed two-floor spot with a terrace, made for sharing skewers and a cold draft beer while you settle into the city.

The fire does the work here. We burn real charcoal and beech wood that's seasoned before it ever meets the grill, so it burns clean and steady rather than smoky and sharp. That's what gives the steaks, ribs and skewers their deep, even char — the taste you'd expect from food cooked properly over wood rather than rushed on a gas burner.

What to order off the grill

Start with our house signature, the Chef's Knuckle ("Ciolanul Sefului") at 600 lei, a Bavarian-style pork knuckle slow-cooked for hours until the crackling turns crisp and golden. It's big, it's meant to be ordered mid-meal and shared around the table, and it's the dish regulars keep coming back for. From there you've got plenty of choice: frigarui (grilled chicken and pork skewers), pork ribs (coaste), BBQ wings, a proper antricot steak, and a loaded mix grill. If you want to taste a bit of everything, the grill platter or our Mega Beer Platter both come with potatoes and are built for a group. Not sure what to pick? Just call 061204044 and we'll point you to the right plate.

Try mici, the Moldovan classic

If you've never had them, mici (also called mititei) are short, skinless rolls of seasoned grilled minced meat, and they're one of the most beloved street-and-table foods in this part of Europe. At 15 lei each they're easy to order by the handful, and they're the kind of thing locals pile onto a shared board with mustard and bread. They cook fast over the charcoal, picking up a smoky crust while staying juicy inside. Order a few alongside your steak or skewers for the full Moldovan grill experience. They pair especially well with a cold draft beer, which is how most people here enjoy them.

Where you'll eat and how to find us

You'll find Loft Pub & Kitchen at Bd. Decebal 20 in Botanica, an easy walk if you're staying nearby: Jumbo Hotel is just a 2-minute, 170 m stroll down the same boulevard, and Time Hotel is about 9 minutes (650 m) on foot. There's free on-site parking if you're driving. The venue spans two floors with over 100 seats, two outdoor terraces for warm weather, and a hookah lounge, so you can eat in the ground-floor Hall 1, head up to the Upstairs Hall, or grab a table on the terrace in summer. We're open every day from 11:00 until midnight, with the kitchen taking last orders at 22:45, with a 4.8-star rating from 400+ Google reviews. Walk in or message us on Telegram at @Loft_Pub_Botanica.

Good for a celebration

The grill really comes into its own when there's a group to feed, which is why we host plenty of birthdays and local celebrations like a cumetrie, the Moldovan get-together that traditionally marks a child's christening with family and friends. For bigger tables, the Upstairs Hall seats up to about 40 guests and has big screens for a photo slideshow, while the cozier Hall 1 downstairs fits up to around 30. Order a shared grill platter or the Mega Beer Platter, add a round of mici and a few knuckles, and you've got a feast. To reserve a hall or plan a celebration, call 061204044 or reach us on Telegram, and we'll sort out the details before you arrive.
